Detroit Metal Thanksgiving

biggroupandre

Here are a couple photos uploaded to Nice Paper Toys by member ANDRE. The bottom two shelves of the above image show almost every boxpunx model I have made all side by side below some of the coolest models out there by a number of my favorite designers! Such a wonderful image, thanks for sharing Andre! Below is a group shot of the calling all cars series, also from Andre, very nice!

Recently I was interviewed by a really cool website called GEEK BY DESIGN. If you want to read what Angela and I had to talk about, please click this link:

HARLANCORE GEEK OF THE WEEK!

There is a lot of other interesting content at that site as well, be sure to look around!

No new models yet, but I am continuing work on the papercraft zine idea I mentioned last post. I don’t want to say too much, but as soon as I finish the cover, I will post at least post that, ultimately making it official. I feel like I have some cool ideas, and I am taking this very seriously.

I am sure the turkey is getting cold, so I better go. Did I mention I am up to my neck in the game Dragon Age: Origins? If I didn’t, well I am. Also, this is the trailer for something insane I was recently introduced to, DETROIT METAL CITY. What does it all mean? You tell me.

Harlancore, circa 2009

Sorry, no new toys today, but I thought I would post the boxpunx my parents made! Actually my photo-buddy Vin Breau took some promotional images for me and of me yesterday, so I thought I would post my favorite on the blog, so everybody can see what I look like, and judge me accordingly…^^

Anyway, although I am not posting anything new, I am definitely WORKING ON THINGS. I was recently interviewed by another website, I finished yet another papercraft book project, I completed a clever little t-shirt design for my beloved tea shop, and I am still trying to make my way thru Series 8 part III (Analog X Digital) and I am nearing completion on PersonaFAN series 4 DS X DS part II. *huff, pant, wheeze*

I have also decided to make my own papercraft zine. After I finish Series 8 and PF4 I will start working very seriously on it. Since there already is a papercraft zine out there, and it’s one I like very much and have already contributed too, the last thing I want to do is make a similar magazine with different pics of the same models, I needed to come up with something unique. After a couple of months of serious thought, I have decided to make one based on FAN ART. A papercraft zine dedicated to the models we make based on other peoples ideas, ideas that we love. I plan to call it HEAVY PAPER. Please do not steal that name! lol

My self-given deadline is December 25. You read it here first. I am sure I will need help so instead of doing an artist series, I think I will be asking for assistance with different things over the next couple of weeks. If me just mentioning this gets you excited and you think you can add something to HEAVY PAPER, then please, leave a comment.

Also, I want to mention I intend to make each cover illustrated, not photgraphed, by various papercrafters, so not only fan art, but maybe a little bit of straight up art as well. There was a post by one of my favorite papercrafters 3-eyed Bear where he showed a comic strip he had drawn. If I could show other comic strips by papercrafters, that would be awesome.

4 new boxpunx based on BrĂ¼tal Legend characters have suddenly appeared out of no where. Can you guess what I have been up to?

For those of you who don’t know what these models are all about, it’s all about a video game by Tim Schafer and his troupe Doublefine, that takes place inside a world reminiscent of heavy metal album covers of the 70s and 80s. The art direction in this game is truly a sight to behold, especially for those into the subject material. I am not really a huge metal fan, but I was there in the eighties partying with those guys, too much fun…

I have started re-reading my favorite manga/book/comic/graphic adventure/epic adventure/you get the idea: “ANGEL SANCTUARY”.

Whenever I lose my way, or feel I need to make something happen, when I want to think of something new, or when I want to dwell on something old, I just start reading this book. It makes me very happy!

It really is a lot of fun. Maybe I will talk about it more later. Right now I am going to keep reading. I am about to start book 10.

I am so excited.
