Walking on the Milky Way

Boxpunx series five number fourteen: Space brute. I am sure everyone out there knows what it is like to create an even number of anything, and then have to choose which “half” is better. Although I love each and every model, some I can’t help love more than others. Like how you are your parent’s favorite, and although it may not be fair, deep down inside everyone knows why.

The first half of this series consists of quite a few recolors. From this point on we will see more unique~ness…with a couple of clearly inspired pieces, as least to fans of Leiji Matsumoto. Either way, I had a lot of fun creating the final 10, starting with this one, the Space Brute. This is a bad girl. An alien bad girl in a funky robot suit~thing. At least I think that is what is happening here.

Kids, let’s find our favorite Orchestral Manouvres in the Dark songs on youtube! Don’t know who they are? It’s music from when your father was a young man. Some of it was pretty sappy, but there are quite a few interesting tunes in their library. This is a truely emo band, considering this is one of the bands punk kids were ashamed of admitting they listened to when their beloved boy-slash-girl/friend bailed on them. They were the alternative Hall and Oates, not because of anything to do with their music, moreso because of the battle over which band had the best hair in the 80s.

This is the first interesting one that comes to mind “Maid of Orleans”. Listening to it again right now, I am reminded of how much I love this band.

Here’s another dreamy tune, more upbeat this time, it’s called “Enola Gay”.

Older and even more upbeat, this is “Electricity”.

Remember this one? This was probably the first song by them I ever heard, and I thought it was so exciting and wonderful. 1983 was it?

So I go back and find something older, and it’s brilliant. This is “Messages”. This kills anything Hall and Oates ever did.

I am not playing “If You Leave”, you can look that up on your own if you insist. I did like the movie Pretty in Pink in which it was used to provide a super sugary silver screen moment that I doubt I could ever watch again and take seriously. I will go out with two later songs, still pretty sweet, but they make me happy, at least in small doses. This is from their 10th album, “Walking on the Milky Way”. Much better looking hair now. And Hall and Oates are a distant memory by this time. Two kudos, OMD. I think it might be a cover?

One last tune, This is “Dreaming”. Dedicated to the club kids of the late 80s/early 90s. To be a teenager in that era, I feel so lucky. Sorry kids. Because I am pretty sure it’s gonna be constant apocalyptic doom and gloom from here on out. Think I am being overdramatic? Your goddamn mainstream pop music is inspired by GOTH music! It’s soaking in it! And that kind of music was only interesting back in the days when we didn’t know what to call it. But I digress, here is the happy song…
