series seven

This is BOXPUNX series 7 : innocence and rainbows. Each image below links to a zip file containing the necessary items to make each model(s). These are a few concepts, characters, and/or ideas that I found interesting in the past. Or maybe it was a series of random retro-dreams I had. Some of it was definitely inspired by what I heard after playing all those hard rock records backwards. Some music is just better that way though.

Reminder: Click each image to download the models

1.) An Ideal For Living

What’s so great about the sixties and seventies anyway? The way people dressed for one thing! Sometimes it’s outrageous, sometimes it’s hilarious. Sometimes it’s both. Sometimes it’s so incredibly bland it’s amazing. When you see photos or movies from the era, it’s like no one is aware of how wonderfully ridiculous they look. They are all innocent of any crimes against fashion. What was it about the era that allowed people to think it was ok to take so many “fashion chances”? Is this a good or a bad thing? This carried on even into the eighties, but died somewhere in the nineties it seems.

2.) Punk Rock Hippies

My favorite retro color would have to be rainbow. I don’t personally own any tie-dyed clothing, but I did try to safety-pin my heart back together once. Worked ok for a while but eventually I had to get a new one.

3.) Kill Your TV

Back in the early days of cable, movie theaters would show advertisements slamming cable, urging moviegoers not to succumb to it’s evil charms. Well, we all know how well that went. If you are reading this, then you must have access to the internet. There is a lot to watch and do here, so if you need to save money, cut off your cable and start watching TV online!

4.) What Would Warhol Do?

I have always liked Andy Warhol. I can’t help but wonder what interesting things he would have came up with if he were with us today. I like to think he would have made some great papercraft.

5.) Mecha X Monster

When I was a kid in the 70′s they made these huge robot toys in Japan called SHOGUN WARRIORS. They were released in the states too, and they were so cool. I was fortunate enough to receive a few on different holidays. They were my favorite toys for a long time. There were big ones and small ones. There were a variety of robots and Godzilla was in there too. Wiki it.

6.) Red Shirt + Vulcan

To say I am a Trekkie would not be fair to the Trekkies as I am no where near that level of “Trekkie-ness”. But in my life, I have, without a doubt, watched myself a lot of Star Trek. None of that new stuff, but all the old stuff, more than once for sure. Thumbs up.

7.) Boxpimp

What can I say, it was like I HAD to. Plus I thought my disco superhero protagonists needed an antagonist. You can’t see it in this picture, but his pimp cane shoots lightning bolts. It’s pretty sweet.

8.) Nice Dreams

These two guys made some of the funniest movies I have ever seen. If you don’t know who they are, well maybe you are too young to, and you will find out eventually. Look forward to it. You are going to be on the floor laughing.

9.) The Prisoner playset

I am not a number, I am a free man.

10.) Glitter & Snow

Fighting crime by day, roller-dancing at Studio 54 by night. It’s the dynamic disco duo, Glitter & Snow. There was a time when comic books cost just a few coins. It was brilliant.

11.) Angel of Disco

All hail the Queen of Shimmer, the Darling of Diamonds, the Pink Power Love Goddess. They say she sheds a tear every time you burn a disco record.

12.) Blackula

The afro vampire himself. What can I say about him that hasn’t already been said a zillion times before? You already know of his blood-sucking ways. Now experience the terror in papercraft form.

That’s the end of series 7. Hope you found at least one you liked. Thanks so much for looking.

The next series will definitely be 12 models using my new shape. I think I will call both the models and the series DOLLPUNX, because I ran it thru google and it wasn’t taken. ;)

This series is the best one yet! It will take me hours to explain to my step-kids about Cheech and Chong, The Prisoner, and Shogun Warriors. I already have Tommy Chong on my desk waiting for Cheech.

Excellent!!! Love the mix you have going on in this series. As I scrolled down the page I burst into gleeful laughter repeatedly. Boxpimp, Angel of Disco, fucking Blackula??? I don’t know which is my favorite. To echo the previous comment, “Thank You!”

Found your site after your Brutal Legend series got pimped on Joystiq – the Cheech & Chong ones had to be built – made Cheech so far.

    Fantastic, many thanks.
