The Saga series is another series with many installments never released in english. We didn’t get the most popular and revered episodes for the SNES, but we did get the gameboy titles, renamed as Final Fantasy titles to confuse the American public even further than they already were at the time, and we also got the 2 PSone episodes. In the future we will get the PS2 episodes, but we will talk about that in the future.
The first PSone title, Saga Frontier, was pretty decent, but it got really hard. Really really hard. Normally I would applaud this, but something just made me give up. Probably another cooler game, I don’t recall. The second one though, Saga Frontier 2, is the true gem of the two. This game looked like you were playing inside of a watercolor painting, it was so gorgeous.
The fight sequences were old school PSone 3D and kind of an eye sore today, and even then only in some locations, but when exploring the world, the hand-drawn art style is one of the most impressive ever and few games have managed to even come close to it’s beauty. I have recently started playing this game again and although I will probably take two years to beat it again, who cares, it is such a joy to look at.
